I-35E To Close This Weekend For Joint Repair Work

If all goes as planned, the highway will reopen Monday.

COLUMBUS, MN — Southbound Interstate 35E will close on Friday, Sept. 28 through the morning of Monday, Oct. 1 to repair rough concrete pavement joints on the interstate between the Interstate 35E-Interstate 35W split in Columbus and Ramsey County Road 96 in Vadnais Heights, weather permitting.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28th, MnDOT will start closing ramps along the southbound interstate. The southbound roadway will close at 8 p.m. During the closure, there will be no access to the southbound interstate in the project area. Motorists will be able to reach northbound I-35E and roadways will remain open across I-35E.

Southbound I-35E motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour of southbound I-35W, eastbound Highway 10, eastbound I-694 to I-35E.

If all goes as planned, the highway will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1.

The concrete pavement joints in this area were created when the old blacktop surface was removed and replaced with a nine-inch concrete surface in 2011.
