Plan Would Demolish O’Gara’s Building

The building where O'Gara's Bar and Grill opened up 77 years ago on Snelling Avenue could soon be history.

SAINT PAUL, MN — The building that hosts a popular Saint Paul watering hole that's been around for 77 years could be history. The owners of O’Gara’s Bar and Grill are discussing a plan to demolish their current building on Snelling Avenue and replace it with a larger one that would feature apartments, interior parking, and a new smaller O’Gara’s on the ground floor.

The plan was announced in the Union Park District Council's February newsletter.

O’Gara’s opened at its current location in 1941. Third-generation owner Dan O’Gara and of Ryan Companies will discuss the plan to replace the building at the Union Park District Council’s March 19 meeting.
