St. Paul Public Schools Close For The Year Due To Extreme Heat
The last day of school for St. Paul students was scheduled for Friday. Instead, the year finished early due to the hot weather.
ST. PAUL, MN — The academic year for St. Paul Public Schools ended several days early Tuesday due to the extreme heat. The original last day of school for St. Paul students was scheduled for Friday.
"In the best interest of the health and safety of our students and staff, all Saint Paul Public Schools will be closed for the rest of the school year," the district announced.
"Students will not switch to distance learning for these days."

Athletic events, performances, and graduation ceremonies will continue on as previously scheduled. School buildings will be open this week and on Monday so students can pick up and drop off materials.
"We are very sorry to have to end the school year in this way," the district said.

"We know how much students and staff look forward to this time of year. This is not how any of us wanted this school year to end. We know our families and staff have been through so much and appreciate all of your support this year."
June's extreme heat has wreaked havoc on what was already a tumultuous school year for many, due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Monday, fifteen Minneapolis schools were forced to move to distance learning due to the weather.
