St. Paul Students Plan March In Support Of Equal Rights Amendment
Students also planned to meet with ERA bill authors and other elected officials.
SAINT PAUL, MN — A group of Saint Paul students on Tuesday staged a march in favor of the equal rights amendment.
In a news release, JJ Hill Montessori announced its elementary students on Tuesday marched from the school to the Governor's Mansion at Lexington and Summit Avenues.
The students were set to be joined by equal rights amendment authors and supporting officials, the school said.

The ERA was proposed in 1923 and passed by congress in 1972, according to the report. States were first given until 1979 to ratify the amendment, but the deadline was later extended to 1982.
Lawmakers last month proposed a resolution to remove the deadline for states to ratify the amendment, allowing its protections to be written into the constitution. The Wall Street Journal reports the amendment has been approved by 38 states, enough for ratification, but three approvals happened after the deadline.
