Former Shakopee Rotary Club Member Dies at 75
Services for Don D. Martin will be held on Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Shakopee resident Donnavan "Don" D. Martin, 75, passed away on Aug. 16. He was born on Nov. 24, 1937 in Stewart Minnesota.Â

Martin graduated from Shakopee High School and Minnesota Business College. He also served in the U.S. Army for two years. He spent his career as the Scott County Assessor for 33 years.
For 12 years, he actively participated in the Shakopee Rotary Club and he was involved in the Youth Foreign Exchange Program. Martin was proud of his volunteer work as a manager of Valley Cemetery in Shakopee, which he started doing in 1979.
His interests included his farm in Renville County, his hosta garden, auctions, and his two sheltie collies. Most important to him were his nephew, niece, great-nephew and two great-nieces.
Don is survived by his sister, Roxanne (Robert) Jackelen; nephew, Scott Jackelen; niece, Tanya (Nate) Stadler; great-nephew, Gavin; two great-nieces, Emily and Amber Stadler, all of Shakopee; and many wonderful friends and cousins. Don was preceded in death by brother, DuWayne (1979), father, Roscoe (1996); mother, Bernette (2012).
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. It will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 119 West 8th Avenue in Shakopee.Â

Visitation is Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church.Â
The family prefers memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, Shakopee or Valley Cementary.
