Heated Recliners And Cocktails: The South Metro's New Theatre

SHAKOPEE, MN — Marcus Theatres will mark the grand opening of its brand new Marcus Southbridge Crossing Cinema at 8380 Hansen Avenue in Shakopee on Thursday, April 13. The 10-screen, state-of-the-art facility offers recliner seating, premium, large-format auditoriums, and a variety of food and beverage amenities.

Southbridge Crossing Cinema will offer to guests a variety of amenities, including the DreamLounger recliner seating in all 10 auditoriums for the comforts of home and double the legroom between rows. Guests can go from seated upright to a full recline at the touch of a button.

Marcus Southbridge Crossing Cinema opens to the public at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, for the 7:30 p.m. premiere of “The Fate of the Furious.” The theatre’s first full day of operations will be Friday, April 14.

“Marcus Theatres is thrilled to bring another theatre and 100 jobs to Shakopee, with the opening of Southbridge Crossing Cinema,” said Rolando Rodriguez, CEO of Marcus Theatres, in a statement.

Two UltraScreen DLX auditoriums will include the option for heated DreamLounger seating, which can be toggled on or off with the push of a button. In addition, these premium, large-format auditoriums feature massive screens and multidimensional sound for an immersive audio experience, with speakers on the front, back and side walls, and even along the ceiling, according to a news release.

“Shakopee-area residents will now have two theatres in their community," Rodriguez added. "Together these theatres will provide more movies, showtimes and options – from a traditional moviegoing experience to a complete night out with food, beverages and more! We look forward to offering these choices and creating destinations for Shakopee-area residents for years to come.”

Amenities at Southbridge Crossing Cinema continue in the theatre lobby, with two food and beverage innovations, including a Take FiveSM Lounge and Zaffiro’s Express. The Take Five Lounge offers cocktails, entrées, appetizers or dessert before, during or after a movie. Take Five menu items, including beverages, are welcome in any auditorium, to add to the moviegoing experience.

The theatre also offers a Zaffiro’s Express concept at a counter area attached to the concession stand. So, in addition to traditional movie theatre snacks, guests can order Thincredible handmade pizza, sandwiches, appetizers and other menu items for quick pick-up. These can be enjoyed in the lobby or can be taken into the auditorium as a meal with the movie.
