Man Dies After Falling in Grain Bin at Twin Cities Malting Facility

Police say one man died Monday after falling into a grain bin at a malting facility in Shakopee.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating an incident after a man died after falling into a grain bin at a malting facility in Shakopee. On Jan. 2 at about 9:15 p.m., Shakopee police officers were called to Rahr Malting.

Officers arrived and located the victim deceased in a grain bin.

Police say there was no indication of suspicious circumstances and it appears to have been an accidental fall. The fall is not believed to have been witnessed and it is not known how long the victim had been in the bin before being found by coworkers, according to a news release.

Police say the victim is a 58-year-old male from South St. Paul.

The identity of the deceased, along with the exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Coroner’s Office.
