The Shakopee City Council met Tuesday, Feb. 16. Among the meeting highlights:

Council approves rezoning and preliminary plat of Whispering Waters

The City Council approved the preliminary plat of Whispering Waters and rezoning 59.6 acres to urban residential. KRB Development VIII LLC plans to develop the site at 7556 Eagle Creek Blvd. and 2163 Pike Lake Road into 134 single-family residential lots. The council also approves the vacation of certain drainage and utility easements in the Meadowbrook Run plat in accordance with the developer’s plan. Council approves preliminary plat of Jefferson Court

The City Council approved a preliminary plat of Jefferson Court at 1025 Jefferson St. Link Construction plans to construct eight single-family homes on 3.23 acres north of New Creation Church. More information: Kyle Sobota, Senior Planner, 952-233-9349.

City approves sale of property to Trident Development

Acting as the Economic Development Authority, the City Council approved the sale of 3.6 acres near Vierling Drive and Lincoln Street to an affiliate of Trident Development for $626,000. The city purchased approximately 30 acres of excess right-of-way from the Minnesota Department of Transportation in 2015 and has been selling off parcels for the West Shakopee Gateway development. Council authorizes design agreement for Highway 169 pedestrian bridge project

The City Council authorized a professional services agreement with WSB and Associates for design, construction inspection and administration services in the amount of $790,192 for the Highway 169 Pedestrian Bridge Project. The project includes constructing new trail segments and a pedestrian bridge across 169 to connect Quarry Lake Park and the Southbridge neighborhood. Council orders 2021 Street and Utility Reconstruction Project

Following a public hearing, the City Council ordered improvements and preparation of plans and specifications for the 2021 Street and Utility Reconstruction Project. The project includes the reconstruction of storm sewer, watermain and roads for portions of Scott Street, Levee Drive, Atwood Street and Fuller Street in downtown Shakopee. Council sets public hearing for alley reconstruction project

The City Council received a feasibility report and set a public hearing for the 2021 Alley Reconstruction Project. The project includes reconstructing two alleys in downtown Shakopee. The alleys are between First Avenue and Second Avenue from Fuller Street to Lewis Street. A public hearing will be held March 2. More information: Micah Heckman, Project Engineer, 952-233-9363.

City to seek proposals for new Parks and Recreation management software

The City Council approved issuing a request for proposals for Park and Recreation software to manage the department’s facility rentals and program registrations. Council sets public hearings for March 16

The City Council set two public hearings for its March 16 meeting to consider vacation of public drainage and utility easements within:

  • Windermere and Windermere South 2nd Addition, near 17th Avenue, Astoria Drive and Attenborough Street
  • Howe 1st Addition, south of Stagecoach Road at Highway 101
