Shakopee Community Center To Reopen On January 4

The indoor aquatic center will open for lap swim and swimming lessons. Open swimming is not permitted at this time.

The Shakopee Community Center and Ice Arena will reopen to the public Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Following the governor’s most recent executive order allowing swimming pools to reopen, the facility will reopen for members and non-members. This is a change from the planned Jan. 11 date.

The indoor aquatic center will open for lap swim and swimming lessons. Open swimming is not permitted at this time.

Reservations are required at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/communitycenter for:

  • Indoor Aquatic Center – please note, lap swimming only is available at this time.
  • Fitness Center
  • Gymnasium
  • Walking Track
  • Fitness Classes (virtual classes also available)

Guidance for reopening requires masks be worn at all times; the only exception is while swimming in the pool. Current guidelines call for an increase in social distancing to 12 feet when exercising.

When possible, programming will be conducted in person for programs, such as swim lessons. When not possible, programs will be conducted virtually or canceled. Staff will contact those who have registered to confirm the status of programming.

Memberships

Community Center memberships will resume for January with annual membership expirations extended to cover the length of closure. Monthly memberships will be pro-rated for January and adjusted for closed days in November for a total of 13 days. Day passes can be purchased at the front desk.

Rental Reservations

No new room rentals or party reservations will be accepted at this time. The following spaces remain closed until further notice: Ṡakpe ti Lounge, Kid’s Cove, The Lookout indoor playground and Enigma Teen Center.
