Shakopee Mdewakanton Planning Mall of America Hotel
The hotel will be central to mall's planned expansion.
According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will be the owners of a new hotel planned for the Mall of America.
Mall officials told the paper the tribe will be the sole financiers behind a 330-room, $105 million luxury Marriott hotel. The hotel forms nearly half of the mall's planned $250 million expansion.
According to Finance & Commerce, the hotel will be built on the mall's north side.
