Shakopee’s Brian Sames Places 2nd in Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon

Shakopee’s Brian Sames captured second in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth on Saturday.

The 26-year-old’s time of 1 hour, 9 minutes and 27 seconds in the 13.1-mile race put him on a 5:19 per mile pace. He finished just eight seconds slower than the winner and 1 minute, 22 seconds faster than the third place finisher.

In all, 6,627 runners, including 2,723 males, started the race.

A total of 3,904 women ran the race. Abby Christensen, 29, was the fastest Shakopee women's runner. Her time of 1 hours, 43 minutes and 32 seconds ranked her 831st overall, 228th among women runners and 121st in the women’s 19- to 34-year-old division.
