South Metro FCU Shakopee Branch Open House Saturday

Credit union celebrating milestones, expanded community presence

September 21, 2015 -- Shakopee, MN --- South Metro Federal Credit Union (SMFCU) will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at its new Shakopee branch office. The event recognizes a series of milestones the not-for-profit financial co-op has achieved within the past year and its growing community presence.

South Metro Federal Credit Union (SMFCU) is marking 22 years of service to the southwestern Twin Cities community this year, now serving more than 3,700 members and managing assets of more than $100 million. In July, South Metro celebrated the grand opening of its Shakopee branch office, a 5,600 square-foot facility featuring the latest financial banking technology and amenities including a nine-screen interactive video wall.

The new Shakopee branch is at 8001 Old Carriage Court (i.e. southwest of the area). Special activities during the Sept. 26 open house include free breakfast and lunch, light refreshments, gifts and prize drawings. intersection of Highways 169 and Hwy 21 at the Southbridge Crossings shopping center

SMFCU membership is open to anyone who lives or work in Scott County or who is already affiliated with select food and housing co-operatives across the country.

Another open house highlight: SMFCU staff will be demonstrating how the Shakopee branch’s interactive video wall works. SMFCU will be using this wall and other online and mobile applications to roll out new services and access points throughout the rest of 2015 for its members.

“This is an example of our commitment to members to make sure they have the kind of information they need when they make financial decisions,” says SMFCU President B. Don Crofut, who is calling the Shakopee location the “Branch Office of the Future.”

“South Metro Federal Credit Union helps our members “get there by starting here” meaning we are all about recognizing life stages and goals and planning to meet them,” Crofut says. “Our goal is to be our members’ trusted advisor by building and maintaining strong relationships with them. We are committed to providing them with the latest and most convenient banking services, whether in person, online or by mobile devices.”

Crofut adds that SMFCU prides itself on knowing its members. “We greet our members personally and have the training and knowledge on staff to provide more in-depth education and tools for helping our members learn and grow as their financial objectives change.”
