WATCH: Close Calls in Raceway Park Figure 8

Sunday was NASCAR's Whelen All-American Series at the Shakopee track.

Father’s Day arrived with a roar at Shakopee’s Raceway Park as drivers competed in Sunday’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

Among the races were two Turtle's Bar & Grill Wild'n'Crazy Figure-8 features—featuring a "crossroads of doom" that had cars entering the intersection from different angles. RIcky Martin of Farmington won the first figure 8 race, and Shakopee driver John Lebens won the second, according to Raceway Park.

The second race was particularly close. Lebens led from the first lap, but Maple Plain's Mark Bronstad tried to close the gap near the end of the race.

A Raceway Park articles said:

“With the top two not wanting to give the other driver any kind of advantage, it led to wild closing laps as both drivers refused to slow going through the "X" narrowly avoiding several major collisions in the crossroads.”

Driver Chad Wallebeck captured the excitement of one of the races from a camera mounted inside his vehicle. Check it out in the video above.
