Stillwater 'Wow!' House: A Stone Cottage With A Phone Booth

This house spells cozy, inside and out. Photos within.

STILLWATER, MN — This 1925 stone cottage on Osman Ave. is every bit as charming and rustic on the inside as it is on the outside. A unique historic construction, the original cottage has been preserved to such an extent that you can still sit inside the included wooden phone booth and have a private conversation.

The lot is small at just 0.29 acres but compactly and beautifully arranged. The sloping front entrance with winding stone walkway would feel at home in a Grimm fairy tale or a Monet painting. Out back there is an inground pool and some patio space for relaxation behind wooden fences.

Inside, it's all about the knotty pine. That building material can be found just about everywhere in the house: the sitting areas, the four bedrooms, the 2.5 bathrooms, and elsewhere throughout the 2,212 square feet. If that isn't rustic enough for you, the two fireplaces are real wood burning units, including one in the basement bar area, which is our favorite part.

The kitchen uses granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. A separate dining room has wood Venetian blinds, as do some of the other rooms. The top level bonus room should be considered the gold standard of cozy.

What do you think? Would you live in this charmer of a house?
