Stillwater's Epic 1901 'Palace' Is Still On Sale

Yes, you could really live here.

STILLWATER, MN – Opulent, exotic, luxurious, grand, whimsical, intimate, family and home all come to mind when trying to describe this exceptionally restored and historic home. Words alone cannot adequately describe it and the restoration that has been done.

Made rich from the lumber industry, William Sauntry completed it in 1901. The building was designed after Sauntry's visit to Spain where he saw the Alhambra, according to oral history.

The home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally built as a "palace" or recreation hall, historians said. It is a rare example of Islamic Revival architecture in Minnesota.
