Sheriff's Office Receives Funding For Additional Speeding/Aggressive Driving Patrols In Wright County

Speeding on Minnesota roads has been much more pronounced, especially on busy stretches of highways and freeways, over the last year. As a result, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety is distributing grant funds to cities and counties to provide increased patrols for speeding and aggressive driving.

The funds are a supplement from the Toward Zero Death grant funds counties received earlier in the year. Wright County Chief Deputy Matt Treichler said that the additional patrol shifts will begin immediately.

“This program will provide additional deputy shifts dedicated to enforcing speeding and aggressive driving,” Treichler said. “Usually they are four-hour shifts and we try to assign them throughout all of the county. But, we also go where we get the most complaints – the northeast portion of the county.”

The total of the grant $11,600 with a 20 percent local match ($2,320).
