St. Michael Lions to host 18th annual ice fishing contest

Family friendly ice fishing contest

Bundle up your spouse and kids and plan to come wet some lines at the 18th annual St. Michael Lions Club ice fishing contest.

This family friendly contest takes place on Beebe Lake just out from the public access on Saturday, February 6th, from 12 noon to 3 p.m,, and will be loaded with prizes again this year. Besides the multitude of door prizes for both adults and children, there will be 3 cash prizes awarded in each fish category: bass, northern, crappie and sunfish. 1st prize is $100, 2nd prize is $75 and 3rd prize is $50, so 12 chances to win cash. Judged by the weight of any one fish in each class All prizes will be awarded. There will also be a separate winter sport raffle that offers a chance to win $500 cash, a Vexilar FL-20 fish finder, a Clam 8 inch Edge gas powered ice auger and over $1,000 in gift certificates.

Cost for a ticket to fish is $5 for age 16 and under, and $10 for age 17 and older. Each ticket will get you one hole and will enter you into the door prize drawing. The Winter Sports Raffle tickets
separate from the fishing prizes, are $5 each. First prize is $500 cash, second prize is a Vexilar FL-20 fish finder, 3rd prize is a Clam 8-inch Edge gas powered ice auger, and then we draw for over $1,000 in gift certificates. Both fishing tickets and raffle tickets can be pre-bought at St. Michael Hardware Hank or Dehmer’s Meats in St. Michael. You need not be present to win the Winter Sports Raffle.

The KRWC Road Show will be on hand to play music and games. New this year, there will be a manual ice auger hole drilling contest to see how fast you can get through the ice. Lunch and concessions will be available on the ice, or you may bring your own food and beverages.
