St. Michel Parks Open For Winter Recreation Programs
While much of the activity in the Wright County parks system comes during the summer months, there are several parks open in the winter.

While much of the activity in the Wright County parks system comes during the peak summer months, there are several parks open to winter recreational activities. These include cross country skiing, winter walking trails, snowshoeing, sledding, dog sledding and mountain biking.

Here is the listing of parks that offer recreational activities from now until mid-March:

Cross Country Skiing – Bertram Regional Park – Esker Trail – Monticello (1.7 miles of trails – classic and skate); Collinwood Regional Park, Cokato (3.3 miles – classic and skate); Harry Larson County Forest, Monticello (2 miles – classic and skate); Otsego County Park, Otsego (1.25 miles – classic and skate); Robert Ney Regional Park West, Maple Lake (4.3 miles – classic and skate); Robert Ney Regional Park East, Maple Lake (5.5 miles – skate and skijoring); Stanley Eddy Park Reserve South Unit, Annandale (2.4 miles – classic and skate).
Winter Walking Trails – Clearwater/Pleasant County Park, Annandale (1 mile – paved); Clearwater/Pleasant off-leash pet area (.57 miles – packed); Montissippi Park, Monticello (2.1 miles – paved); Otsego County Park (1.98 miles – paved).
Snowshoeing – Bertram Regional Park (excluding Esker Trail); Bill Anderson County Park, Howard Lake; Marcus Zumbrunnen County Park, Clearwater; Stanley Eddy Park Reserve – North Unit; Off-trail at any park.
Sledding Hills – Bill Anderson County Park; Collinwood Regional Park; Montissippi Park.
Dog Sledding – Robert Ney Regional Park East (5.5 miles – skate and skijoring).
Mountain Biking/Winter Fat Tire Biking – Bertram Regional Park (Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists Association trails, South Trailhead).
For those looking for ways to help drop some of those holiday pounds that tend to add up, the Wright County parks system could be the answer. To top it off, it’s free and open to the public if you have your own equipment. For those who don’t have skis or snowshoes, rentals are available from noon to 4 p.m. on weekends from January through mid-March at Robert Ney Regional Park and Nature Center.
