Wright County Government: State Has Closed Down Option Of Taking Driver's License Exams Online

A Message from the Wright County License Center:

As of today (July 1), the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services Division has removed the online testing option for driver’s licenses. Like many provisions made by the State of Minnesota during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Peacetime Emergency was lifted today, it also eliminated many of the laws and rules changes made during the pandemic when many state offices were closed or had to adhere to COVID-19 protocols like mask-wearing and social distancing. Starting tomorrow (July 2), all exams must be done in person at state offices. There has been no indication whether appointments are going to be required, however Class D exams require an appointment. Anyone taking an exam from out of state is required to take an exam to transfer their license. Anyone applying for a first-time permit needs to take a written exam before applying. Currently, the closest offices to Wright County that are currently open five days a week are in Plymouth, St. Cloud and Anoka.
