Wright County Highway Department Preparing For Second Wave Of Winter Weather

Residents are asked to be on the lookout for Wright County Highway Department trucks because the storms that were predicted in Wright County have started popping up and the highway department is currently monitoring the roads closely in preparation of getting trucks out on county highways and roads.

“This isn’t a good situation,” Highway Maintenance Supervisor Steve Meyer said. “The temperatures have been holding steady at about 32 degrees all morning, so we’re seeing the whole gamut around us – snow, freezing rain, sleet and rain. We’re right in the middle of all of it.”

To the north and east of Wright County, the storm has been entirely snow. In the Twin Cities, it has been primarily rain and freezing rain. Wright County has remained in between the two systems, but they are filling in and posing problems.

As of 9:30 a.m., trucks have not been out in force other than addressing pockets of precipitation in the western portion of the county, but if the situation dictates, the trucks will be out on the roads in full force before the lunch hour hits.
