Car Pulled From Lake Had Been Stolen In 1994: Police
The car was stolen in 1991 in Inver Grove Heights, according to investigators.
WOODBURY, MN — The car that was pulled from Colby Lake on Saturday had been stolen 30 years ago, according to John Altman, commander of Woodbury Police Department.
The Pontiac Safari 6000 station wagon was reported stolen in 1991 in Inver Grove Heights, police said.
Investigators do not yet have any other information about this incident, police said.

"There’s a chance records from that far back were purged," Altman said.
The car was discovered by somebody inspecting the lake for potential weed removal, police said.

The car had been visible in aerial photos of the lake dating back to 2006 and was left undiscovered for so long due to lack of recreation on the lake, police said.
