Charges Likely For Driver In Fatal Woodbury Crash: Police

The name of the teen driver hasn't been released due to the potential for criminal charges.

WOODBURY, MN— The teenage driver in a fatal crash in Woodbury on March 13 is likely to face criminal charges, Police Commander John Altman said.

Altman told Patch that the names of juveniles is usually withheld, but can be made public in car crashes, except in the case of an arrest or the possibility of charges.

"In this case, while we wait for all the investigatory information to be complied, I withheld the driver’s name," Altman said. "It is likely that criminal charges result in this incident."

Garrett Bumgarner, 17, died at the scene of the crash after he was ejected from the car, officials said.

Four other teens were in the car, three of whom were brought to the hospital after the crash, officials said.

Last week, a petition was created to add a roundabout at the scene of the crash to prevent future crashes.
