More than 2,500 loyal customers patiently waited in long lines and hundreds more streamed in from adjacent parking lots to get their first glimpse of Cabela’s new Woodbury, Minn. store. Some customers braved the chilly weather and camped out overnight so they could be the first in line. In a unique ceremony, competitive archer Brian Cote shot an arrow through a ribbon to officially open the doors.

Cabela’s also will offer giveaways throughout the weekend. The first 50 customers Saturday will receive a Cabela’s cap valued at $14.99. And Sunday, the first 50 will receive a Cabela’s gift card valued between $5 and $100. Additionally, customers 18 years and older will have a chance to enter to win a $1,000 Cabela’s shopping spree throughout the weekend.
A variety of activities for the entire family will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weather permitting Saturday and Sunday, including a youth fishing clinic and trout pond and Cabela’s BB gun range.
The 85,000-square-foot store is located at 8400 Hudson Road in the Tamarack Village Shopping Center.
The building’s exterior reflects Cabela’s popular store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing. A large glass storefront allows customers to view much of the store’s interior as they approach the building. In addition to thousands of quality outdoor products, the interior is designed to surround customers in an outdoor experience, featuring a mountain replica with built-in aquarium, wildlife displays, a Boat Shop, Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop.
