The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) presents A Holiday Fête

The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is pleased to present A Holiday Fête, a special program to celebrate the joy of the season, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Loft Stage at East Ridge High School, 4200 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury, MN. Tickets are available in advance online through EMSO’s website, www.emsorch.org, from orchestra members, and at the School of St. Paul Ballet: $15 adults, $10 seniors, $1 ages 17 and under. Remaining tickets will be for sale at the door.

Joining EMSO in the celebration will be students of the School of St. Paul Ballet, performing excerpts from Clara’s Dream, a ballet set to music from Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic, The Nutcracker. The performance will star professional company dancer Michelle Ludwig as “Clara,” who will be accompanied by student dancers ranging from upper elementary to high school age. “We are thrilled to give our ballet students the rare opportunity to perform with a full symphony orchestra,” says Laura C.C. Greenwell, director of the School of St. Paul Ballet. “Having worked with EMSO in years past, I know this experience will enrich our students and delight our audience.”

The program will be rounded out with holiday musical classics including an audience sing-a-long. A meet-and-greet with orchestra members and student dancer along with refreshments and treats will immediately follow the performance. “Whether you enjoy classic ballet, familiar holiday music, or an old-fashioned sing-along, this joyful program has something for everyone,” notes Elizabeth Prielozny Barnes, EMSO music director and conductor. “The relaxed and inviting nature of EMSO programs means that this holiday classic will appeal to all, perfect for a special family gathering!”

A Holiday Fête is the second performance in EMSO’s 2017-2018 Season of Celebrations concert season. The orchestra will also present All You Need is Love: A Valentine’s Pops Cabaret on February 10, 2018; and Svensk musik och dans (Swedish Music and Dance) on May 20, 2018.
