The East Metro Symphony Orchestra presents Mardi Gras!

The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is pleased to present Mardi Gras!, the fourth annual EMSO pops cabaret concert and fundraiser. EMSO will host the evening of live music, desserts, drinks, cash raffle, and silent auction, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Elmo Event Center, 3712 Layton Avenue North, Lake Elmo, MN. Tickets are $30 if purchased in advance. Tables of ten can also be purchased for $270. Tickets will be sold at the door if available for $35. Tickets are available in advance through EMSO’s website, www.emsorch.org, or from orchestra members.

This year’s event will celebrate the musical theme of Mardi Gras and Carnival from around the world. The orchestra will be performing a wide variety of works showcasing wildly-celebratory music from countries that celebrate their own special versions of Carnival -- from standard classical music to tangos and other lighter fare. Members of the orchestra will perform in a variety of smaller ensembles including a Dixieland band and a Zydeco band to bring a true New Orleans musical experience to the event, and a sing-along of show tunes and other popular music will be included. Drinks and a dessert buffet by award-winning Lake Elmo Inn will highlight the event. A broad selection of items, donated by EMSO members and local businesses, will be up for auction throughout the evening. Proceeds from this event will benefit the orchestra’s artistic and community outreach endeavors. Doors and bidding open at 6:30 p.m. The musical performance starts at 7:30 p.m. “This event is a fun and fantastic fundraiser for EMSO and really unites our community,” says EMSO president Angie Newgren, “Every year we hear from attendees how much they look forward to coming again next year.”

EMSO will be celebrating its tenth anniversary as an independent, non-profit community orchestra throughout its 2018 - 2019 concert season. Mardi Gras! is the fifth concert presented by EMSO during this celebration, and EMSO will present the final concert of the season in May. Visit EMSO’s website for more season information.
