Former Woodbury Mayor Who Oversaw Population Boom Dies At 68
The size of Woodbury doubled during Bill Hargis' 17 years as mayor.

WOODBURY, MN — Bill Hargis, who led Woodbury for 17 years as mayor, died of brain cancer Tuesday at the age of 68. In addition to running the east metro city from 1993 to 2010, Hargis was a volunteer coach and benefactor of Bethel Baseball and a founding member of the Woodbury Community Foundation.
Hargis led the addition of two new malls in Woodbury; Tamarack Village and Woodbury Lakes. The city's population doubled in his 17 years as mayor, reports the Pioneer Press.
The funeral service for Hargis will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Woodbury, according to his obituary in the Star Tribune. A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at Woodbury City Hall.
