GoFundMe Set Up For Family Of Boy Who Drowned At Carver Lake
A family friend shared in the GoFundMe's description that the boy drowned while celebrating his own birthday.
WOODBURY, MN — The 9-year-old boy who drowned at Carver Lake Park and Beach Sunday had been celebrating his own birthday, according to a GoFundMe set up for the family.
The boy was identified by the family friend who started the fundraiser as Geoffrey Compton.
The fundraiser was set up by Carina Aleckson, a friend of the family. Aleckson said the funds will be used to cover funeral and burial costs.
Liz Compton, Geoffrey's mother, was quoted in the GoFundMe's description:
"In loving memory of Geoffrey Compton.
We lost Geoffrey to drowning at his 9th birthday party at Carver Lake Beach yesterday. Please pray for us, his twin, his older sister, the officer who found him for us, his classmates who were at the party, and the parents who had been watching the kids in the water. We are all entirely broken at losing this sweet, kind, earnest, beautiful blond boy."
