Ideal CU Community Celebrations Focus on Local Giving

Ideal Credit Union marked its 6th Annual Community Appreciation Celebration by giving away $6,600 in cash prizes, including a $1,000 daily grand prize for adults age 18 and over, $100 a day for youth age 17 and under, and $3,000 in donations to local area food shelves, including the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf. The two-week celebration moved to Ideal CU’s Woodbury branch on August 14. Attendees enjoyed grilled hamburgers and had a chance to win fun prizes, visit Ideal CU Board and senior management, and to give back to our local communities.

In Woodbury, numerous attendees brought nonperishable food items or made monetary donations to the local food shelf and brought gently used coats for the Salvation Army Coats for Kids drive. The Ideal Community Foundation presented a $500 check to Amy Brown from Christian Cupboard to help feed our hungry neighbors. The food shelf serves those living in Woodbury, Oakdale, Landfall, and part of South Maplewood (east of McKnight and south of Stillwater Boulevard). Its mission is to provide nutritious food to our neighbors in a respectful manner while engaging the community in the fight against hunger.

Food shelf donations were also made during the community events to the Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf in Hugo, Neighbors, Inc., in Inver Grove Heights, The Open Door in Eagan, the North St. Paul Area Food Shelf in North St. Paul and Valley Outreach in Stillwater.
