Newport Elementary College And Career Readiness In South Washington County Schools

Newport Elementary School (NES) and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) have been engaging students in discussions about college and career readiness. Students learn how classroom routines, organization and time management are the foundation to future success in any path they choose. Third-grade teachers, Sara Bonnie and Amy Kestner, had students write to colleges and universities to start thinking about what they may want to do in the future. Students were excited to receive college apparel and talk about the many opportunities they have in education and careers.
