Proposed 'Gold Line' Plans Development, Reconstruction: Report

The Gold Line would be a 10-mile bus line from Woodbury to St. Paul, also driving through Oakdale.

WOODBURY, MN—A proposed 10-mile rapid-stop bus line could bring much development to Woodbury, The Pioneer Press reported.

According to the Pioneer Press, the Gold Line is a $530 million project that would run from Woodbury, through Oakdale, to Downtown St. Paul. The project has not yet been approved.

The Pioneer Press reported that the plan would:

  • Demolish Woodbury 10 Theatre
  • Add hundreds of apartments
  • add businesses on 10 acres of land
  • add a new neighborhood that overlooks parts of the city
  • Redevelop Wells Fargo Bank on Valley Creek Road and Bielenberg Drive
  • Provide local transportation, especially to households without a vehicle
  • Add an $18 million parking ramp
  • Add a $40 million Washington County service center on Guider Drive near Woodlane Drive
