Woodbury Demographics: Past, Present and Future

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday got a look at the makeup of the city.

The first marriage in Woodbury was between a Scottish man and an Irish woman.

“The first bit of cultural diversity we had,” said Karl Batalden, Housing and Redevelopment coordinator.

Relaying information from the U.S. Census Bureau and state demographer, Batalden on Wednesday presented to the City Council information on the racial and age makeup of Woodbury.

In sum, Woodbury is becoming more diverse and older, reflecting trends from the metro area and state as a whole.

Woodbury, with a population of about 65,000 today, is expected to grow to 84,000 by 2030, according to the Metropolitan Council, Batalden said.
