Woodbury Memorial Day Ceremony Canceled: Pavers Still Available
It's the latest event to be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
WOODBURY, MN — Woodbury's annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the City Hall campus has been canceled for 2020 because of the coronavirus crisis. "Hosting the Woodbury Memorial Day Ceremony has been a great pleasure and responsibility for the Woodbury VFW Post 9024 and the Woodbury American Legion Post 501," organizers said in a statement.
"Because of the continuing COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, it is necessary for us to cancel the Woodbury Memorial Day Ceremony previously scheduled for May 25. Our planning process started long before the virus was recognized as a contagious crisis, so we waited for the timeliest information to make this difficult decision. Even with additional reopening of businesses in Minnesota, it appears that social distancing will most likely continue to be a personal responsibility well past Memorial Day. Both veteran organizations appreciate your understanding of the need to cancel our 2020 Woodbury Memorial Day Ceremony."
