Weekly Weather Photos: 5 Dead At Start Of Icy Winter Season

See top weather photos of the week as pre-winter storms slam areas with power outages, school closures and icy conditions, killing five.

The winter of 2018-19 blew in with an attitude, shoving fall aside to cripple parts of the South, Midwest and Northeast. The pre-winter storm has already claimed five lives, and rain and snow have left many roads covered in sheets of ice.

Two of the five deaths occurred in a horrific tour bus accident in Mississippi. The casino-bound vehicle was traveling down Interstate 269 when it overturned from the icy conditions and left an additional 44 people with injuries, The Associated Press reported.

Witnesses told Mississippi investigators the tour bus driver lost control after crossing an icy overpass and the bus rolled over on the driver's side, coming to rest in median of Interstate 269 in Byhalia around 12:35 p.m., Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Capt. Johnny Poulos told The AP.

The other three fatalities all come from separate car accidents in Little Rock, Arkansas. From power outages in Ohio to school closures in Missouri, this winter season is already off to a brutal start.
