Teen Held Gun To Boy's Head In Assault Caught On Video: Cops

INDEPENDENCE, MO — A 17-year-old from Independence, Missouri, has been charged with first-degree robbery after a video posted to Twitter and Facebook showed him holding a gun to a younger teen's head, the Independence Police Department said last week.

Alexander A. Schrader was arrested after turning himself in and confessing to the crime, police said. According to court documents, he punched a 13-year-old repeatedly in the face, shoved him to the ground and held a gun to his head before taking his money. The older teen also made his victim kiss his feet and other body parts, prosecutors said.

Police said the teen who filmed the assault and one other juvenile were also taken into custody. It's not clear if they have been also charged.

Relatives of the victim accused police of slow walking their response to the assault, but authorities said that wasn't the case.

"The first officer who contacted the mother took the initial investigative report and the next day the suspects were all arrested," a police spokesperson said.

Authorities added that the teen was charged with a Class A felony, which could carry a penalty of up to 30 years in prison. (Subscribe to Patch for daily newsletters and the chance to win $100.)

"This is not a minor charge," police said. "We take incidents like this very seriously, and handling cases involving violent crime is a top priority."
