Affton Students Chosen for Mizzou Program for Gifted Students

This summer, two Affton High School students attended Missouri Scholars Academy (MSA), a three-week program for gifted students, on the University of Missouri’s campus, according to a press release from the school.

At the MSA, students are exposed to a liberal arts curriculum and a variety of extracurricular activities. 

Junior, Adis Terzic said his time at MSA was the best three weeks of his life. At Affton High School, Terzic participates in basketball, volleyball, student council, National Honors Society, theater, and Trend (an anti-drug organization).

Brooke Brust, also a junior, was a member of MSA’s choir this summer. She said her experience at MSA was unique because it provided an environment where all students wanted to learn. At Affton High School, Brooke is involved in theater, Mathletes, Trend, National Honors Society, and holds a junior class office.

MSA accepts only 330 students each year. Each public school district and private school in Missouri is able to nominate at least one sophomore student. Larger school districts, like Affton, may nominate more.
