Affton Pools Temporarily Closed by Health Department
The pools at Brookside Village Apartments and Monreale Condos were closed this summer due to health code violations.
Widely-used public pools are often safer than apartment or neighborhood pools, Chris Hayes from FOX-2 reports.
Hayes discovered that 18 apartment and condo pools had been shut down for at least a day due to unsafe conditions after being inspected by the St. Louis County Department of Health.
The pools at Brookside Village Apartments and Monreale Condominiums were among those that were closed, FOX-2 reports.

The pool at Brookside closed because chlorine levels were "non-existant," and the inspector reported residents "could not see the bottom of the pool." The pool's pump was not running, so the water was not being filtered and circulated.
The pool was also missing a first aid kit, a "No Diving" sign, a "No Swimming Alone" sign, a list of emergency contacts and covers for the outlets.

Brookside Village Apartments responded to the report, saying: "Brookside Village did have to close the pool for a couple of days earlier this month due to minor violations that were corrected within 48 hours."
At Monreale Condominiums, the water level was too high, and the fence, which was low enough to be climbed by children, did not have a self-closing gate.
FOX-2's website has a map of the pools that have been closed for a day or more due to health concerns. A video from his report is attached to this article.
