Affton's National Night Out is Scheduled This Fall

Affton-area residents hoping to celebrate National Night Out must wait until the fall. 

Most communities participate on Aug. 7, but the event was scheduled for Oct. 2 in Affton in an effort to avoid the heat of summer, said Officer Dave Sebek of St. Louis County Police Departments' Affton precinct.

is a program designed to help crime prevention by bringing public safety officers together with members of the communities they serve. Communities celebrate the evening with swimming parties, cookouts and safety fairs.

However, is planning to host an event on Tuesday, Sebek said. A police officer will stop by, he said.

Officials at Eden were not immediately available on Monday evening to offer details about the event.
