Ambrosia: New Name, Same Owners, Menu for Affton Restaurant

Affton’s restaurant scene just got less complicated. There’s now one less restaurant with either Affton, dinner or diner in its name.

Affton Breakfast and Dinner, at 9416 Gravois Road, changed its name to Ambrosia.

Not long after Affton Breakfast and Dinner opened in October, 2012, Affton Diner opened at 10020 Gravois Road. A month later Breakfast and Burgers opened at 10024 Gravois Road. There's also the Cafe Affton Sports Bar and Grill at 8713 Gravois Road.

It got confusing.

“We had a lot of people coming in and were surprised, because of the name they thought it was a diner,” Andy Sholla said. His family owns the restaurant. “They were surprised it was actually a restaurant.”

Sholla said people would place a to-go order at his restaurant, then go to one of the others to pick it up. “It’s kind of funny to me that people get confused, but hey, that’s part of life,” he said.

He said he and his mom found the name, Ambrosia, online. He said there’s no other Ambrosia restaurant in the area. Sholla said it’s the same owner, same menu, just a name change.

“That’s a pretty catchy name, plus it relates to the Greek history. It’s the food of the Greek gods.”
