Fuzzy's Taco Shop Opens Today in Yorkshire Plaza

Yorkshire Plaza is the first St. Louis location for the Fort Worth, TX,-based chain.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop opens its first St. Louis location today in Yorkshire Plaza.

The Fort Worth, TX,-based chain, which currently has more than 40 locations in nine states, is located at 8073 Watson Rd., the former home of Pizza Street. Fuzzy's is a fast-casual type restaurant, which serves Baja-style Mexican food in a fun, energetic atmosphere.

Franchisee Scott Bonner, who is originally from Fort Worth, told Patch that fish tacos are the company's "claim to fame."

"Fuzzy's is known for its fish tacos, fun atmosphere, flavorable food and fair prices," he said during a VIP party Thursday.

And the restaurant does have fair prices with items ranging between $1.99 for a taco to $7.99 for a fajita plate. The best part? You won't leave hungry! At the VIP party, I had the taco plate, with shredded beef and chicken tacos, black beans and the Latin-fried potatoes. I was so stuffed, I couldn't finish it up.

Bonner, who has lived in St. Louis for nine years, most recently owned five Wingstops, which he recently sold. He said he heard that St. Louis didn't have any good Mexican restaurants, which is why he decided to open Fuzzy's here.

"During the last two years when I've been back to Fort Worth, I've eaten Mexican food for every meal," he said. "And I've eaten at Fuzzy's at least once a day for breakfast anyway."

Bonner plans to open another Fuzzy's in the St. Louis area this year. The restaurant is open Sunday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m.
