How Are You Talking to Kids about the Connecticut Shootings?

How are parents supposed to tell their children about a tragedy that has left the whole world reeling?

Moms on Affton-Shrewsbury Patch's Facebook page were discussing the shootings in Connecticut today, espcially sharing the news with their children.

"Personally, I have not told my kids," said Kathy Ables-Bell, who has a second grader, first grader, kindergartener and a pre-kindergartener. "My thoughts and prayers are with the school and families that lost those innocent lives. Dropping the kids off this morning was hard I am greatful for school staff that is able to maintain composer even in the most difficult of situations."

Jacqueline Harrison's children are 10 and 12, so hiding the news from them was just impossible. 

"I told them so they are aware of their surroundings and people around them," Harrison said. "I also told them how to react if ever in a situation where their life is threatened. My heart goes out to all of those affected by this tragedy!"
