Plant a Tree – Very simple and very green. Maybe a fruit tree, buy it from a local nursery. They will even plant it for you. Enjoy the shade and lower cooling bills. Maybe enjoy fresh fruit free from your yard. Don’t own property? You can have a tree planted in your name. Have them plant it in a blighted area of the Western U.S. Check with the National Forest Service or your equivalent state agency for tree planning programs.
