Kennerly Students Make Donation in Honor of Teacher's Son

The students donated $2,000 to a camp for children with cancer and blood disorders in honor of their music teacher's son, Jake Franzel, who died in January.

In honor of the senior who died in January from bone cancer, students donated $2,000 raised during their variety show in March to The Camp Rainbow Foundation.

Camp Rainbow is dedicated to providing free camping experiences for children undergoing treatment for or survivors of cancer and other blood-related diseases and disorders.

Jake Franzel died after a long battle with osteosarcoma. Jake’s father, Mike Franzel, is the music teacher at Kennerly.

The students also released 45 balloons to honor Jake, who was No. 45 on his football and lacrosse teams.
