Men Left Crowbar With DNA, Fingerprints at Affton Burglary, Police Say

A St. Louis man left behind a crowbar with his DNA and fingerprints on a television that he was attempting to steal from an Affton home, police said.

James L. Stufflebean, 36, of the 3200 block of Dakota Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Wednesday with second-degree burglary, felony theft and possessing burglar tools.

St. Louis County Police said Stufflebean used a crowbar to break a window in a home in the 6000 block of Gramond Drive in Affton June 13. Stufflebean left the crowbar behind, and police obtained DNA from the item, according to a court document.

Police said Stufflebean also left a fingerprint on one of two televisions he was attempting to steal. The TVs were left in the backyard.

Stufflebean is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $25,000.

Stufflebean also is charged with three 2009 burglaries and three felony thefts that occurred in St. Louis County. He was charged with those break-ins in 2012.
