Missouri Tax Free Weekend: Shrewsbury Opts Out
Helpful information if you are buying school supplies, clothing or electronics as the kids head back to school.

Just a reminder for back to school shipping: Missouri's back to school sales tax holiday starts Aug. 2!
Here are five pieces of information on the Missouri Department of Revenue's website that might help if you plan to buy back-to-school items for the upcoming school year.
- The sales tax holiday in Missouri is Friday, Aug. 2 - Sunday, Aug. 4.
- Some items, including clothing, school supplies and computers are exempt from sales tax for this time period.
- You can find a list of cities here that have opted out of participating in the tax-free weekend. Shrewsbury is on the list, so you'll pay the taxes shopping there.
- St. Louis County is participating in the sales tax holiday. Find counties which opted out here.
- The sales tax exemption is limited to:
- Clothing – any article having a taxable value of $100 or less
- School supplies – not to exceed $50 per purchase
- Computer software – taxable value of $350 or less
- Personal computers – not to exceed $3,500
- Computer peripheral devices – not to exceed $3,500
