Shrewsbury Lanes to Reopen in 3-4 Weeks as Non-Smoking

Shrewsbury Lanes, which went in to receivership earlier this year, has new owners who want to reopen the alley as soon as soon as possible.

Heather Pardo and Brad Pollard were at the lanes cleaning and assessing what needs to be done on Saturday.

Pollard is from southeast Missouri, and has experience in the bowling business, including as a teacher. He was born in Shrewsbury. Pardo is from South St. Louis and now lives in St. Peters.

Their offer to buy the lanes was finalized at 7 p.m. the night before a court ordered auction of the lanes was to take place.

“We had very short notice,” Pardo said. “He had previously been interested in buying a bowling center, but nothing had worked out, so we jumped on this. He has the bowling background and I have the desire to own my own business, so this is a good pairing.”

They said the parking lot, roof and awning needs work, and the inside needs a good cleaning.

“We like the look and charm of the inside, and want to maintain that feel, but update it slightly,” Pardo said.

They know they’re late with fall leagues, but would like to get those going for a start.

They’re also making the entire building non-smoking. “We really want to bring a lot of families, community, and make it more of a family atmosphere,” Pardo said. She said they want to do fund-raisers and maybe start bowling clubs through schools.

Pardo and Pollard hope to open the doors in three to four weeks; just as soon as they can fix the code violations and clean up the inside.
