Arnold Councilmen to Review Mid-Year Budget

Arnold City Council will also hear about a tire recycling program from Brian Waldrop.

Arnold city councilmen will review mid-year budget amendments during the work session on Thursday, May 10, at at 7 p.m.

Finance Deborah Lewis suggested, in a memo to councilmen, that all municipal employees recieve a 2 percent annual pay increase with the May 16 paychecks. The total increase would be less than $50,000.

Lewis said the city budget should also be adjusted for the following changes:

  • $297,000 increase in the general sales tax due to a thawing economy
  • $180,000 decrease in phone and gas utility taxes
  • $80,000 decrease in revenue from traffic violations
  • About a $16,000 savings due to fewer overtime hours during the mild winter
  • Spending about $705,000 to purchase dump trucks, a truck loader and a mini-excavator.
