Arnold Farmers Market Grows After Policy Change

Vendors no longer need liability insurance to participate in the Arnold Farmers' Market.

The size of the Arnold Farmers’ Market doubled when the City of Arnold no longer required vendors to have liability insurance.

“The Arnold Farmers Market is now a well-rounded market and comparable to other Jefferson County farmers’ markets, Parks and Recreation Director Susie Boone said to during the Arnold City Council meeting on July 19 at .

The market now has 13 vendors, one that sells fresh meat and four new produce vendors, Boone said.

Prior to the policy change, that occurred after May 31, only six or seven vendors regularly attended the Arnold Farmers’ Market, Boone said.

Vendors who decide to act without liability insurance must sign a “hold harmless agreement” that assures the City of Arnold and the will not be responsible for any damage or liability that occurs to the vendor at the market, Arnold Economic Specialist Dan Bish said to Arnold Patch for a separate article.

The Arnold Farmers Market occurs on Fox C-6 School property.

“Fox Schools requires vendors to sign agreement in order to use their property,” City Attorney Bob Sweeney said to the city council.
