Arnold Memorial Grows for Infant after Shaking Death

As news spread through Arnold that an , neighbors gathered on the street to cry, pray and add their own remembrance to her impromptu memorial.

Angels, flowers, candles and lots and lots of teddy bears sit outside the Crosswinds Drive apartment where Jamell Michael Johnson, 21, admitted to police he shook, squeezed and spanked Aliyah McFarland, his infant daughter, eventually causing her death.

“The neighbors came by and put this up in minutes,” said Ken Sexton, 59, a retired driver education teacher who lives on the block.

More than 20 neighbors, both adults and children, gathered to pray, cry or simply and silently keep vigil beside the memorial.

“They were here pretty late,” Sexton remembered.
