Arnold Trek Store Offering Free Group Bike Rides

Every Sunday the managers of the Arnold Trek store help people further enjoy their bicycles.

Every Sunday at 8:30 a.m., the managers of the Trek Bicycle Store in Arnold, at 2194 Michigan Ave., meet with a variety of riders for a no-drop bicycle ride.

No one is left behind in a no-drop bike ride. The group promises to remain together throughout the entire ride.

"People ride all kinds of bikes on Sundays," Trek Associate Zack Johnson said. People use road bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers, hybrids and a variety of other bikes on the ride.

The riders, as a group, determine their terrain and course, Johnson said.

"Usually we'll ride to Jefferson Barracks because it's a good ride," said Jon Pessin, the Arnold store's inventory manager.

There are a lot of benefits to group rides. The opportunity to joke with friends, get a variety of opinions on personal matters, and the chance to learn new skills from more experienced riders.

The ride can be a short 3-mile ride on flat terrain or 4-hour loop riding through the hills to Pevely.

Usually the group size is between five to 10 people. Occassionally the group can grow to be 25 people in size. But that is rare the Arnold Trek store managers said.

The point of the group rides is to have fun, Pessin and Johnson said.

People interested in the group ride events can call the Arnold Trek store at 636-287-6700 for information or meet at 8:30 a.m. on Sundays at the Trek parking lot at 2194 Michigan Ave.
