St. John's Lutheran Block Party, , 3517 Jeffco Blvd., Friday, May 11, 6 p.m. — A free carnival atmosphere with outdoor games, music, antique cars! Visit the Rock Community Fire Truck. See animals made from balloons. Enjoy the Bounce Houses, a petting zoo, or the Smoke House. Free hot dogs, nachos, cotton candy and popcorn. Take the snack walk and enjoy Twinkies, Hostess Cupcakes, or Zinger's. Live music will play throughout the evening followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Information: 636-464-0096.

The National Associate of Letter Carriers 2012 Food Drive, United States Postal Service, 1314 Jeffco Blvd Put your non perishable food donation out for your letter carrier or drop your donation off at the Arnold Post Office on Saturday. It’s the 20th anniversary of the food drive. For two decades now, this annual national drive has proved critical in helping millions of American families, who are struggling to make ends meet during this continuing recession. Each year, the second Saturday in May is a day when all citizens have an opportunity, with the help of their letter carrier, to easily donate food to needy families in their community.
Girls on the Run St. Louis Community 5K, 1315 Chestnut St., St. Louis, MO, Saturday, May 12, — Be a superhero and join Girls on the Run St. Louis at its community 5k on Saturday, May 12 at 8:30 a.m. in downtown St. Louis. The organization aims to help girls across the St. Louis community through a program that combines health and wellness education with a goal-oriented running program. The race is open to the public, is family friendly with lots of activities surrounding the run, and is welcoming to runners and walkers of all paces. In addition, funds raised help support the Girls on the Run St. Louis scholarship fund. Information: 314-862-6266.
